Welcome to the Autism & Asperger's Community

About this portal

This window is a **static, readable** hub: tabs along the top open reference text (sensory strategies, employment, mental health, and more). Nothing autoplays, and you can stick to one tab for as long as you need. Use the **toolbar buttons** above for faster paths: **Portal home**, **Community forum** (full WinNT-style board with the same features as the main-site forum), **Community tab** for norms and off-site links, **IRC** for optional real-time chat, and **Resources** for curated lists.

Using the community forum

The **Community forum** opens in its own desktop window. You can **read without an account**; posting works anonymously, or you can **register** for a stable name. Boards cover introductions, general discussion, diagnosis and identity, sensory life, relationships, employment, mental health, **masking and burnout**, executive function, special interests, women and AFAB experiences, parents and families, resources, advocacy, and a low-pressure off-topic room. The **Help** menu inside the forum summarizes exp

What you will find in the tabs

**About Autism** explains the spectrum model, history, and neurodiversity. **Sensory**, **Executive function**, **Social**, **Employment**, **Relationships**, **Self-care**, **Mental health**, and **Advocacy** go deeper on day-to-day topics. **Women & AFAB** collects experiences often missing from generic accounts. **Resources** and **Tools** list books, sites, and assistive tech. **FAQ** answers common questions; **Community** lists every forum board and norms in one place.

Community guidelines (short)

**Nothing about us without us** — centre autistic perspectives. **Acceptance over “awareness”** — we oppose demonising or “curing” autism. **No ABA promotion** — compliance-first approaches are widely rejected here. **Identity-first language** is the default; individuals may choose differently. **No gatekeeping** — formal diagnosis is not required to belong. **Content warnings** for trauma, food, suicide, and abuse help people pace themselves.

When you finally meet your people, you realise you were never the problem. — Autistic community wisdom

Getting started

If the full portal feels like a lot, pick **one** tile or tab, read for ten minutes, and stop. When you want conversation, use **Community forum** in the toolbar. IRC is optional text chat (`#asperger`); you can lurk. Crisis services are listed in **Mental health** and **FAQ** — use them when you are unsafe.

ⓘ **Tip:** If wording feels ambiguous, assume good intent and ask a clarifying question. Many people here are literal and direct; that is usually respect, not coldness.
